Week ending 8/1/11

Hero:  How could I go past Alistair Cook?  My hero of the week is the dashing English batsman who scored a total of 766 runs in the Ashes series and took the Compton-Miller medal for the best player of the series.

Villain: Gerry Harvey, for his ill-conceived and ham-fisted involvement in a campaign to bully the Australian government into applying the GST to all online purchases by using the ‘saving Australian jobs’ line of argument.
